anyway to make this game more challenging (and more fun) ?
when i was playing in pre-searing i was alone and had to face sometimes up to 4 mobs at a time, and it was pretty challenging and actually quite fun. now in post-searing i've got 3 henchmen doing all the work for me and im just running here, killing 3 mobs, running there, killing 3 more mobs.. it's just no challenge and its not fun for me any more.
the last few quests i've done with only one henchman in my party and it was a lot more fun that way. is there a way to make the game more difficult or something? |

All games are easy in the beginnings, get farther in the game and it will become increasingly more difficult. Then, once you beat it, you can do it again in hard mode! I'd suggest against ditching the henchman because then it will become too difficult since you're new.

Sounds like you're still in Old Ascalon. I'd give the game a bit more time.

Get farther in the game and it becomes more challenging and once you complete the last mission you can go back and play in hard mode which is a real challenge.

If you can do the Althea's Ashes quest and say the same thing - then I will believe you need to try other methods such as limiting the skills on your bar to 4 instead of 8/leave the monk behind/leave all the hench behind etc...
That quest pwned me as a Newbie until I learned to pull groups properly. Then came the Hydras in the Ascalon Foothills. Those buggers had me dead countless times - I actually came back later at a higher level just to teach them a lesson LOL If you find that it does not get any more challenging as you progress, then you must be one of those lucky people that are very talented at this, and the only hope will be to finish the game asap on one char so that you can access hard mode - as that will definitely provide a challenge. |

I think the OP has just left presearing and is in the rather empty post searing ascalon. Monsters there are mostly loners and are no match for the four person party.
Things change a few maps due west, though. Once you meet the eruption spamming elementals that stop melee and the 4+ member charr mobs, it's a different song. One more map west, and you get the hydras, too. The real fun begins in the lvl 20 areas, though... |

Trust me, the game does get harder as it gets on. Pre Searing was a little difficult when you're new and even now, after playing the game for nearly 2 years, Pre Searing is a very nice place to be. I completed Nightfall in one day. THAT was a challenge. It was the first day it came out too and I had no idea that the things I'd be facing would be so destructive.
In Prophecies, you'll get some of the same challenges. Thunderhead Keep, Crystal Desert and even during the Northern Shiverpeaks themselves. The game will not only get harder but filled with more action and great story. Just give it time and take advantage of the break you're taking to learn the game fully. |
